A Few More Pictures

Wally, ever the opportunist, had one of these AIRSTREAM plaques on each side of the trailer along with the standard one on each end as well as on the inside of the door so that any picture of this Bubble would show the Airstream name.

She's had a rough life but she's not ready for retirement just yet. A new chapter is about to unfold. Stay tuned...

Brad, what do you think that inverted hook left over the curbside was? It looks like it was there in the "Stella and Wally Europe 1955" photo. Just curious. . .

It's hard to say for sure. I know the Bubble was shipped overseas several times and I originally thought that they may have been used to lift the trailer onto the ship. Well, that's not feasible. They may have been used to stabilize the rigging used to hoist the trailer onto the ship. From studying pix of PeeWee's scout truck being hoisted, I know they used rigging attached to the wheels. I'd sure like verification on what the hooks are for. There's one in each corner attatched to the main ribs.

Interesting. I hadn't thought about rigging. It sounds like a logical possibility. Yet another mystery about Wally's Bubble to be solved.

Brad. Great pictures, nicely recorded. I've looked on Sam's & Frank's blogs but you've got the best shots. I'm sure she'll be sensitively restored but its great to have that record.
